Our three-day Test Driven Development (TDD) Workshop will give you the tools to signficantly improve the speed and quality of your software delivery.
It’s like a fitness program for your code.
Your team will go faster, keep up the pace over time, get new features out to market quickly, and have them be right the first time.
TDD is a simple, yet profoundly transformative process:
- Define what you‘re going to build by writing a failing test.
- Write the simplest-possible code that passes the test.
- Incorporate the new code into your design.
The process repeats over and over, a hundred times a day. This may seem overly simplistic, a bit strange or even dangerous. But it works. It works every time. It gets your code into shape and keeps it flexible and efficient. It. Just. Works.
Our TDD Workshop gives you the firm foundation you need to get started. It will introduce you to the practices and disciplines needed to write code using TDD. It includes instructor-led learning through lectures, examples, exercises and plenty of hands-on practice.
We will leverage your existing knowledge of Design Patterns, Architecture, Object Oriented Programming and Design, and teach you to take them in a new direction. We will focus on:
- Creating tests as a way of exploring the design of your system
- Learning to write simple code as a way of implementing your design
- Leveraging your tests as a way to evolve the design over time
- Keeping code healthy and alive throughout a project‘s lifetime.
Attendees to this course will be expected to program, so you should be fluent in your language of choice (Java/C#/Ruby preferred, but other languages are acceptable) and have a good grasp of OO concepts and design patterns. This workshop touches on advanced topics, so the more you know about objects and patterns, the more easily you‘ll be able to get the benefits. All students are welcomed, however, regardless of experience.
